Patricia L. Culwell

Patricia Culwell started painting forty-some years ago while getting her B.A. in Fine Art at a small private college in LA in the 1980s.

Growing up on a midwest farm, she drew with pencil constantly and had her first commission at age 10. After receiving her B.A., the day jobs took most of her time, but evenings were for art. As time went on, she received two daughters, built a home, created an award-winning brew pub, and painted signs, murals, and backdrops across Oregon. Now she is turning her creative energy back to fine art and a studio practice.

She sees her work as bringing together play, mystery, wonder, and the beauty of the world around her. She lives in the mountains of the pacific northwest of America with the natural world surrounding her as inspiration. Some of her work also explores the questions and ideas at the edge of her conscious that she can't put into words, and yet sometimes a little humor still pokes its way in.
